The Australia-Vietnam Education Promotion Association (AVEPA) conducted an award ceremony for 2019 scholarship recipients at 6 pm at RMIT (City Campus) on 27 June 2019, with the attendance of successful Victorian AVEPA scholars, their family, friends and AVEPA members. Of note was Rebecca Overend representing RMIT. Ian Bates was Chair of AVEPA.

The AVEPA Scholarship not only funds young talented Australian-Vietnamese individuals who have strong leadership and commitment for community engagement but also gives a sense of purpose and encouragement for their future. AVEPA is first and foremost an aspiration and trust that young Vietnamese Australians will make significant contributions to the mainstream society and beyond. The AVEPA founders, directors and members share the spirit that AVEPA is more than a scholarship, but an organic network of Australian-Vietnamese young visionary intellectuals.
In 2019, AVEPA-University Partnership scholarships ($5,000 AUD each) were awarded to four students in Victoria and one in New South Wales. Additionally two students who went to a university other than our partner universities were awarded $1000 scholarship. These students not only achieved high academic results but also excelled in leadership, co-curricular activities and community engagement. The 2019 students are:
| Vivian Yen Than | RMIT University | |
| Vanessa Bui | RMIT University | |
| Thi Da Mi Tran | RMIT University | |
| Minh Triet Ngo | RMIT University | |
| Phong Dinh Nguyen | University of Melbourne | Bachelor of Biomedicine |
| Yen Nhi Dinh | University of Melbourne | Bachelor of Commerce |
| Simon Pham | Sydney University |
Dr David Wilmoth, director of AVEPA New South Wales Chapter, separately held a scholarship award meeting for the NSW student.
The Award
